First time was for a high stress move from Brooklyn to Manhattan. I originally found them through a service offered/used by the apartment complex I was moving into. Ivan was my email contact. Mike and Marco were my movers and helped me finish packing. Very professional, responsive to all questions, on time, just the right degree of friendly, discreet (which was important to me), everything was packed well, and the move went very smoothly and quickly. The company actually charged less than the estimate, because I didn't have as much stuff as I thought I did. (Everything you own always seems infinite and overwhelming - to you - I suppose.)

By the second move - across country, with a lot more furniture & belongings, and a gap between move out & move in dates - the apartment complex had changed to a different service, which only offered up one option: a company that couldn't do it when & the way I wanted it done. They suggested looking online & calling around as well as some key questions to ask. So, I started down that road, wishing I could just remember the name of that company from last year instead. (Even though I thought they only did local moves within NYC.) After a few calls & estimates, discussions about packing furniture in paper, am I really taking ALL my stuff, the mystery of whereabouts the storage facilities are, & why it would cost $20k (or simply be impossible) to do it when & how I wanted, and dealing with both good attitudes and some very bad ones, I went through the previous year's emails looking for a receipt or email address - ANYTHING - to help me get in touch with this company again. Of course, it was a weekend night, a week before moving out day by then. BUT I FOUND THEM. \o/ And, thankfully, they do long distance moves as well.

Ivan did an estimate by phone, and then - on short notice - an in person one. He gave me a revised estimate in person, saying only if I wanted them to unpack as well would it cost more. No extra or hidden fees. He confirmed I could have the dates I wanted (also on short notice, from my perspective, if not theirs), assured me everything would be packed and wrapped well, and go smoothly on both dates. If anything unexpected came up on either day, they'd handle it. I hired them to pack, move out, provide storage for two weeks, and then move in, in a different state. Immediately, this huge feeling of relief and relaxation washed over me - almost a giddiness, really - and I got really excited about moving. (A first, for me.)

I paid the deposit. The next day, I decided I did want them to unpack on move in day as well, so they needed to charge the additional amount. No one expressed any annoyance about this.

(I chose to pay in full before the move, so I wouldn't have to worry about it later. Between the night of the estimate and move out day, I spoke or emailed with a few other people on staff. Each as calm, cheerful, and efficient as the last.)

On move out day, Jovan and Nemanye (sorry, if I'm misspelling) were my movers. They were very polite, on time, extremely diligent about packing and wrapping everything well, and so patient through rain, other people's movers in the elevators, nearly the entire Green Day discography being played (and yes, sung along with) that day, etc., etc. Just great. They were great.

On move in day, two weeks later, elsewhere, Milosh and Milo were my movers. They could not have been more respectful or kinder. They were both very efficient and good humoured throughout the day. Even in random moments when I got stressed or overwhelmed, they never did. (And they can reassemble furniture from the Container Store faster than CS's own employees assemble it in the first place! Truly impressive.) They even called Jovan to ask in which box he'd packed some important items. They also made great suggestions about where to place some things in my new home. I was kinda sorry to see them go, to be honest.

Needless to say, all my things arrived safely and in the same great, clean condition as when loaded onto the first truck, two weeks earlier. There were NO PROBLEMS on any of these three moving days.

I struggle for the right words to recommend this company highly enough. They're all so professional and kind. Everything is done well and on time. They (mostly Ivan) keep in touch before, during, and at the end of the moves, but they aren't constantly calling & texting with the 'still on for tomorrow', '20 minutes away', '10 minutes away' type messages. The level of communication is pitch perfect. The job is done perfectly. And you get to meet good people, who make your move as stress free as possible for you, so there's only good vibes in your new place. Call them. CALL THEM RIGHT NOW.
